Perlane®

Perlane®
Improve the contour of your facial skin with this exciting new dermal filler. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane can be used to improve the contour of facial skin and to reduce wrinkles, folds, scars and other facial skin depressions.

With Perlane . . .
Now FDA-approved in the United States, Perlane is a "mid-dermal" hyaluronic acid filler product. As a sister product to Restylane, Perlane is designed for more pronounced facial folds and wrinkles. It has been used to soften wrinkles and facial folds of patients around the world. It is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions and facial scarring.

The hyaluronic acid in Perlane supplements the body’s natural supply, which becomes depleted with age. This filler is biodegradable so its effects are not permanent. The results of a Perlane filler treatment tend to last 6 months to a year. This is much longer than the typical results of collagen injections, which may only last 3 to 6 months.

Perlane may be right for you if you would like:

  • Wrinkle correction
  • Diminishing worry lines, smile lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines at corners of the mouth and smoker’s lines
  • Lip enhancement
  • Reducing the severity of nasolabial folds
  • Chin augmentation
  • Filling cheek depressions
  • Redefining lip border
  • Softening acne scars

FAQs

What is Perlane?
Perlane is made from non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gel. This means that Perlane contains no animal products. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin and other tissue, there is no need for a skin test when using Perlane filler.

What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural complex sugar found throughout all living organisms that retains water -- absorbing more than 1,000 times its weight -- and adds volume to the skin’s surface. In addition, hyaluronic acid binds with collagen and elastin and transports essential nutrients to these fibers. The triple combination of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid provides structure, elasticity and volume to the skin and contributes to its overall appearance.
.
As the skin ages and is exposed to environmental pollutants and ultraviolet rays, the cells lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. As a result, the skin begins to lose volume, often resulting in the formation of facial wrinkles and folds. Dermal fillers composed of crossed-linked hyaluronic acid are used by physicians to help temporarily replace lost hyaluronic acid and to restore skin volume and a smooth, natural appearance.

How do Restylane and Perlane filler compare to one another?
Perlane is primarily the same product as Restylane, but Perlane filler contains a larger concentration of hyaluronic acid. Because of this higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, Perlane is usually used for larger folds, while Restylane is better suited for smaller wrinkles or to maintain the results of a previous Perlane injection. Because of the differing levels of hyaluronic acid, Restylane is less expensive than Perlane filler.

Can Perlane be used in combination with other fillers?
Most facial correction needs beyond superficial lines will be restored most naturally by the use of product layers. Perlane is the ideal "middle layer" for deep folds.
