What’s the First Step?
The first step in getting a labiaplasty in La Jolla and the greater San Diego area is to schedule an in-person consultation with board-certified gynecologist Dr. Parvin Mani. Beyond just getting information, it is important to test how comfortable you are with the surgeon, given how intimate a labiaplasty procedure is. During this appointment, you are encouraged to disclose your medical history, your aesthetic goals and expectations, and any concerns you might have.
Dr. Mani will examine your labia, recommend the best techniques to be used at the incision sites, and outline the risks, benefits, and recovery outline. Once you and Dr. Mani are done with the examination and agree to move forward with the procedure, she will design a surgical plan for you, which you can take to our patient concierge for scheduling, pricing, and to receive your pre-operative instructions. Patients must follow these carefully. Some pre-operative instructions might include the following:
- Avoid blood thinners a week before surgery
- Have loose underwear for recovery time
- Make arrangements for a ride home on the day of the surgery
- Shave the pubic area two days before the surgery
- Stop smoking a month before surgery
- Take time off from work for a week at minimum
