Our Jessner Peel is a medium deep peel designed for more extensive damage than AHA’s can improve. It is made from salicylic acid (a beta hydroxyl acid), lactic acid (an alpha hydroxyl acid) and resorcinol. It can be used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation and to treat aged, sun-damaged skin.
How Is It Applied?
The technician applies a glycolic cleanser over your face to fully remove the oils, so that the Jessner’s solution will penetrate properly. Then she will apply the Jessner’s solution to your face. This causes a slight burning sensation. Several layers may be applied depending on the skin condition. You may develop a whitened look, known as “frosting” that will dissipate within a few hours. The technician neutralizes the solution and removes it from the skin with cool water. A calming mask is applied.
The skin may be pink or light tan color, and then begins to peel and flake for about 7 days. After about a week, more smooth and radiant looking skin will appear.
What Skin Condition Is Not Treatable With A Jessner’s Peel?
You should not have sunburned skin, traumatized skin or active acne.
What Post-Care Is Necessary After A Jessner’s Peel?
Stay out of direct sunlight for 1 week. Apply a thin coat of plain Vaseline daily to the treated areas for 4 days.
What Precautions Should I Be Aware Of After The Peel?
Avoid sunlight, wait 1 week before using Retin-A on the skin.
How Long Should I Wait Between Peels In The Same Area?
We recommend you wait approximately 4 weeks.
Chemical peels don’t get much recognition these days. With lasers and lights getting the focus in the news, the chemical peels have taken a back seat. But they don’t need to!
Those of you with facial discoloration probably already know about Cosmelan, the topical “go to” for melasma and persistent hyperpigmentation. But what if it’s texture or roughness or sun damage that’s bothering you and lasers are simply not in your budget?
We’ve brought in a brand new customizable hybrid peel, called the Apeele, performed in a 3-step 30 minute process for:
- Skin cell rejuvenation (using retinoic acid)
- Skin polishing (using mandelic and lactic acid)
- Pigmentation reduction (using Hydroquinone)
- Mid to deep photo damage reversal (using phenol and retinoic acid)
- Acne improvement (using salicylic acid)
Regardless of your skin “need”, this unique peel system can be adjusted to create a very personal peel designed to work with your skin type, condition, problem and color.
