How many shots of Kybella do you need?

The number of Kybella® injections needed will vary by patient depending on their cosmetic goals. Generally, most patients achieve their desired results with two or three treatments. Some patients may need as many as five treatments for best results.

How many treatments will I need?

You will need a consultation to determine the recommended number of sessions/cycles. Fat accumulates differently in everyone. If during your treatment program, it is determined you need fewer (or more) sessions, that will be adjusted as required. You will only be treated with the number of cycles that are required.

How long does Kybella last?

The Kybella® treatment permanently reduces fat under the chin. However, these injections cannot prevent future changes in the chin due to weight gain. To make results last as long as possible, patients are encouraged to practice healthy diet and exercise habits.

Can I exercise after my Kybella treatment?

It is expected to have bruising and swelling in the area treated for about 3-7 days after treatment. The patient should avoid strenuous exercise until the swelling and bruising resolve. This is because strenuous exercise increases blood flow to the area treated, which then can worsen swelling and bruising and delay healing time.

Is Kybella only for the chin?

Yes. Currently, Kybella is only FDA-approved for treating fat underneath the chin. It is currently not available for treating fat in other areas of the body.

Which is better, Kybella or CoolSculpting?

What is Kybella?

Fat under the chin, known medically as submental fullness, has traditionally only been treatable with liposuction. The FDA’s approval of the injectable Kybella offers a simple, non-surgical in-office treatment to literally melt fat under the chin.

The Kybella injection contains a molecule that destroys the fat cell membrane. Once the membrane is “popped”, the fat within the cells is naturally removed by the body. You will have a series of treatments, all fast and easy, monthly. Average number of cycles varies per patient, but expect 4 to 6, each one month apart. In some cases, you may receive a local anesthetic; this could be injected or used as a cream. Each session takes about 15-20 minutes. An ice pack may be used to relieve swelling. Once the procedure is concluded, you may experience minor side effects like swelling, numbness, and bruising around the injection sites; this is normal and will subside in 24 to 48 hours.

Kybella recovery

Unlike invasive surgeries like liposuction, KYBELLA doesn’t require a complicated recovery period. Most of our patients return to work or normal routines right away.
