If you are an adult acne sufferer, you’re not alone. According to a recent study in the Journal of Women’s Health, more and more women are getting acne later in life. Acne has always been associated with youth, but overall about 55% of women of all ages have acne, although about half of acne sufferers had only mild acne.
The study showed that clinical acne peaked in the teenage years, but remained a factor for women across their lifespan. About 45% of women aged 21-30, 26% of women aged 31-40, and 12% of women aged 41-50 had clinical acne.
Fortunately, treatments exist for acne sufferers. At La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic, we offer many different acne treatments. One of our most successful is the Isolaz acne treatment, which combines mechanical removal of debris and oil with broadband light destruction of bacteria to effectively reduce the amount and severity of acne.
We also use Blu-U, a specific wavelength of light that is damaging to acne bacteria, but refreshing to your skin. It can also be combined with photodynamic therapy for treatment of persistent acne.
And if you want to keep acne away, we offer medical level acne care products to help you keep your complexion clear and breakout-free.
