The next big thing in skin care may be bacteria. A group of scientists won the 2011 Nobel Prize for their research showing how skin bacteria support a healthy immune system. Other research has shown certain skin bacteria combat infection-causing bacteria that lead to problems like acne and eczema. The skincare industry seems to think good bacteria on your face can work on a deeper level to repair damaged DNA and to build collagen.
Certain products from NUDE, Aromatherapy Associates and other companies are including probiotics and other ingredients said to boost the presence of good bacteria on your skin. The probiotic ingredient used by NUDE is said to have reduced cellular damage by 50 percent and increased cellular renewal by 70 percent in a lab test of the product.
Caring for your skin is one of the best ways to look beautiful. Radiant, healthy skin is an attractive quality in men and women, and, while we wait to learn more about the power of good bacteria, you can take these steps to care for your skin:
- Cleanse: Although removing the good bacteria may not be desirable, you don’t want to leave bad bacteria and grime on your face.
- Moisturize: Prevent wrinkles and promote softer skin by moisturizing your face every day.
- Hydrate: Moisturize your skin from the inside out. Drink plenty of water to look and be well.
Advanced skincare like chemical peels and medical level products can boost the beauty of your skin.
