What Can I Expect During My Incision & Drainage?
Your incision and drainage will be performed by Dr. Faryal Siddiqui and our team of medical professionals in our beautiful office. Before your exam begins, Dr. Siddiqui may apply a topical or local anesthetic to your treatment area. This is to ensure you remain comfortable throughout your treatment. Once numb, a small incision will carefully be made in your treatment area. Through this incision, the fluid building up under the skin’s surface will be drained and the wound will be treated with a sterile solution. The open wound will be dressed in gauze before you leave.
What Can I Expect After My Incision & Drainage?
Following your incision and drainage treatment, Dr. Siddiqui may provide you with post-treatment care instructions. Excess drainage for one to two days following your procedure is normal and to be expected. We encourage patients to change their wound dressings often to prevent further infection. Patients may be asked to follow up with Dr. Siddiqui within a week or two of treatment.
