Isolaz® Acne Treatment in San Diego, CA
A regimen for eliminating acne needs to deep clean the pores, and this can be challenging on your own. At La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic, we offer Isolaz® acne treatment for men and women in San Diego, Encinitas, La Mesa, El Cajon, and surrounding areas of California.

How Isolaz™ Works
Isolaz™ acne laser treatment uses a special process which involves both suction and the use of medical broadband light. Unlike stand-alone light treatments which only address the problem of bacteria growth, the Isolaz actually physically removes impacted sebum and dead skin cells which cause a backup of excess oil. It is this oil/cell debris which acts as a food source for bacteria. The light kills any present bacteria (called p. acnes) to help quickly reduce inflammation and stop the acne lesions from enlarging.
Most patients see an immediate improvement within 24-48 hours of their first Isolaz™ treatment. Initially you may see “new” acne pimples surface as the suction mechanism pulls debris closer to the surface. Multiple treatments progress your skin to dramatically clearer condition. Treatments are usually provided weekly over 4 to 6 weeks.
What Is The Goal Of Acne Treatment With Isolaz™?
- Clear pores and remove the food source for future bacteria
- Kill existing bacteria at the same time
- Reduce inflammation and redness
Are There Side Effects?
Isolaz™ treatments may leave your skin slightly red for several hours after treatment, but this is not always the case. For some patients, a brief increase in acne presence may display after the first session. These new acne lesions – which typically would be “underground” and feeding on oils and bacteria – will resolve more quickly.
Will Isolaz Hurt?
Isolaz is not totally painfree. Depending on your sensitivity levels, how much existing inflammation you have and the number of acne lesions, you can expect some varying degree of light discomfort, though all of our patients have found the treatment to be very tolerable. The treatment time is quite short and is completed in about 20 minutes.
Will Isolaz™ Work For All Types Of Acne?
Isolaz™ is intended for mild to moderate acne. However, if you have severe acne with cysts and nodules, combined with dermatological prescriptions, it can become part of an enhanced acne treatment plan.
Once an Isolaz™ treatment course is complete, our dermatology physician will provide you with specific skin care regimens to help you keep your acne under control. Acne is not “cured” but can be controlled with proper product use, certain product avoidance and dedicated compliance to medical recommendations.
What Do I Do To Prepare For An Isolaz™ Treatment?
Don’t pick at existing acne. Come to the office without makeup (or expect us to remove any makeup you may be wearing). Bring a list of any medications you may be taking internally or applying to your skin.
Do Most People Get Good Results From Isolaz™?
88% of patients who tried Isolaz™ during clinical studies displayed a reduction of acne and had fewer blackheads and pimples. The effects of Isolaz can last up to a year after a completed series. The FDA has specifically approved Isolaz for comedonal and pustular acne so you can feel secure that the treatment is safe.
If I Don’t Have Much Acne Or None At All, Is Isolaz™ Beneficial?
Isolaz™ pore purification can benefit anyone who had enlarged or clogged pores. Simply having clogged pores does not mean someone will have acne breakouts, but keeping the pores clear will definitely help prevent that possibility. Many patients who feel their skin is sluggish, or who have enlarged pores due to heavy oil output, like the effects of clear pores – and the appearance of finer textured skin.
