Chemical peels are excellent treatments to rejuvenate your skin and correct common signs of aging. At La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic, we recommend the VI Peel to target common signs of aging for men and women in San Diego, Encinitas, La Mesa, El Cajon, and surrounding areas of California.

What Is A VI Peel?

Our VI Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel that reaches the dermis of your skin. This layer of skin is where most complex signs of aging originate. The combination of five chemical in our VI Peel not only corrects wrinkles and other concerns, but it also exfoliates your skin for a radiant glow and soft texture.

Benefits Of A VI Peel

  • Ideal for facial treatments, as well as the eyelids, back, chest, and hands
  • Safe for all skin tones and types
  • Helps with common signs of aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, age spots, sun spots, and other concerns

What Can Be Treated With A VI Peel?

We recommend VI Peel treatments for any type of skin flaws that result from too little elastin and collagen, as well as an over abundance of pigmentation. In addition to signs of aging, VI Peel may reduce sun damage, keratosis pilaris, and acne.

Who Is A Good Candidate For A VI Peel?

VI Peels are safe for most skin types and tones, but it may not be the ideal option for everyone. We recommend that you schedule a consultation at La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic to meet with one of our medical professionals. The appointment includes an evaluation of your skin and discussion about your cosmetic goals. If VI Peel is right for you, we explain the procedure and anticipated skin improvements. Women who are pregnant should postpone their VI Peel treatments until they give birth and are no longer breastfeeding.

How Is A VI Peel Performed?

We clean your skin to remove any skin care products, makeup, excess oils, and dirt. The VI Peel is applied in two layers. After the first layer, you may notice some tingling and numbness. Once the second layer is applied, your skin turns white, indicating that the peel is working. Applying the peel takes about 30 minutes. After the VI Peel is applied, you return home. The peel stays on your skin for four to six hours, and you wash it off following the instructions that we provide before you leave our practice. Use a mild, high-quality cleanser to remove the peel. Do not use any type of skin products while the peel is on your face.

Is There A “Recovery” After A VI Peel?

We provide a protectant that needs to be applied to your skin two to four times per day after the peel is rinsed off your skin. Approximately 72 hours after the peel is removed, you will notice flaking areas on your skin. Apply moisturizer until the flaking stops, and avoid direct sunlight. When you are outdoors, use a high-quality sunscreen.

How Many VI Peel Treatments Do I Need?

One VI Peel rejuvenates your skin. You can repeat the treatment every four to six weeks to maintain the results.

When Can I Expect To See Results From A VI Peel?

You will see full results of your VI Peel after the skin stops flaking. This can take up to seven days or longer.

How Long Do Results Of A VI Peel Last?

With good skincare and routine use of sunscreen, the results of your VI Peel can last for several months or longer. VI Peel does not stop the natural aging process, so we may recommend that you have treatments every one to two months.

The most common sensation during a VI Peel is tingling and numbness when the first layer is applied. Some patients notice other types of mild discomfort during the treatment.
