The signs of aging don’t occur overnight. This is fortunate because it allows the average person ample time to address concerns without having to undergo surgical procedures. In recent years, the most significant advances in aesthetic medicine have been technological in nature. While we used to have basic and relatively aggressive CO2 laser skin resurfacing to turn to in times of dire rejuvenative need, we now have multiple laser treatment options at our disposal. Laser treatments fill the gap between naturally youthful skin and plastic surgery. The question is not whether or not laser and light treatments are beneficial. The question is which modality is right for you. To answer this, we need to look at your objectives.
Laser for Body Contouring
If your concern revolves around unwanted, stubborn fat on an area of your body, noninvasive body contouring using our Tight Sculpting device may be ideal for you. Tight Sculpting utilizes a dual wavelength pattern that includes Piano Pulse and Smooth Pulse settings. One delivers thermal energy deep into subcutaneous tissue, where fat cells are targeted for destruction. The other delivers nonablative pulses of laser light into the upper layers of the dermis to stimulate neocollagenesis. The subsequent tissue remodeling results in tighter, smoother skin.
Laser for Nonsurgical Facial Lifting
The depletion of volume and collagen in the dermis and epidermis are responsible for many of the concerns we notice as we age. Historically, issues such as jowls, flattened cheekbones, nasolabial folds, and drooping eyebrows were correctable only with surgery. Now, we’ve got additional modalities to address these facial changes. In our La Jolla clinic, clients have multiple options for laser-like facial lifting. Thermage is the radiofrequency treatment that targets collagen-producing fibroblasts in the dermis. This mild treatment is ideal for the early signs of aging. Thermage can also be considered an excellent preventive treatment for individuals in their twenties and thirties who have yet to notice the signs of collagen depletion. For more extensive tissue atrophy, we may suggest Ultherapy. Ultherapy utilizes targeted, high-intensity ultrasound energy to provoke tightening of the SMAS layer of tissue. This is the same tissue a plastic surgeon manipulates in a facelift. After just one treatment, deep tissue remodeling continues for several months.
