Recovery After a Neck Liposuction Procedure
After neck liposuction, you’ll need to rest and recover at home. Make sure you follow Dr. Grushchak’s post-surgical recovery instructions diligently to prevent a prolonged healing process. This will also help ensure the best possible results and minimize the likelihood of complications.
During recovery, you may notice a degree of swelling and bruising in the neck and chin. This is a normal part of the healing process and will fade over the course of three weeks, if not sooner. Note that subtle swelling may still be present for up to a year after neck liposuction.
You’ll need to wear a compression garment around the treated areas every day for one week, then every night for 3 weeks. This will encourage the skin to conform to the areas’ new contours and help control post-surgical swelling. Cold compresses can also help with swelling, as can keeping your head elevated at all times, even overnight.
Dr. Grushchak will prescribe antibiotics to help you avoid infections. She will also prescribe pain-control medication to address any pain or discomfort during the healing process.
After three to four days of recovery, you may be cleared to return to your job and other regular activities. You’ll need to avoid any physically taxing activities for several weeks, including sports and heavy exercise.
Dr. Grushchak will meet with you at our San Diego County facility for follow-up appointments for neck liposuction. These will allow her to examine your incisions and new contours, address any side effects, and clear you to resume activities.
Once the healing process is complete and swelling and bruising have faded, you’ll be able to see the full results of neck liposuction. Your neck and chin will look elegantly sculpted and contoured, and proportions will be more balanced.
